Schwabe Williamson & Wyatt PC
JEFFERSON
Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt attorneys are encouraged to take on pro bono work as a part of the firm culture. As a Pacific Northwest law firm, we seek to improve lives in our communities by using our skills to serve populations and nonprofits that do not have equal access to legal services. Our attorneys engage in pro bono work in everything from asylum and refugee cases to supporting small, performing arts nonprofits. We encourage a minimum amount of 50 pro bono hours per year.
We commit our dollars and our attorney time to pro bono legal services. In 1991, Schwabe became the founder, and provided the funding for a low income legal clinic which serves the Hispanic population in east Multnomah County, Oregon. We also support a low-income legal clinic in Seattle, The Legal Action Center. Every year since, attorneys from our firm have volunteered their time to help these low-income clients in our offices on a weekly basis. Today the program is coordinated in partnership with the Oregon Law Center, an independent nonprofit organization that provides staff assistance and Spanish translation services to our volunteer attorneys. Many of these cases deal with immigration as a large portion of our pro bono clients are undocumented. Our attorneys provide substantial legal assistance to help more than 100 pro bono clients per year get their homes back, address automobile obligations and collections issues, and solve problems relating to individual civil rights. We are proud to provide excellent legal services to this deserving client base.
