There are 6 Book Club meetings per school year, usually with 5 books and one film event. Each book matches with one of the six We the People units as a way to guide connections and conversations (use of We the People in your classroom is not required). Books are picked with an eye towards feeding teachers\u2019 brains and having adult conversation (not necessarily for use in the classroom!).<\/p>\n

As a bonus, each meeting is worth 3 PDU hours, for a total of 18 per school year. In addition, members of the Book Club can register at a reduced price for 1 credit<\/strong> from Lewis & Clark Graduate School. (If you are interested in applying for graduate credit, please note that upon check out.)<\/em><\/p>\n

The Woman\u2019s Hour: The Great Fight to Win the Vote<\/strong>, by\u00a0<\/em>Elaine Weiss<\/p>\n

Synopsis: Following a handful of remarkable women who led their respective forces into battle, along with appearances by Woodrow Wilson, Warren Harding, Frederick Douglass, and Eleanor Roosevelt, The Woman\u2019s Hour is an inspiring story of activists winning their own freedom in one of the last campaigns forged in the shadow of the Civil War, and the beginning of the great twentieth-century battles for civil rights.<\/p>\n
