{"id":24307,"date":"2020-01-13T19:21:48","date_gmt":"2020-01-13T19:21:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/classroomlaw.org\/?p=24307"},"modified":"2020-01-13T21:52:12","modified_gmt":"2020-01-13T21:52:12","slug":"six-teams-advance-to-we-the-people-state-competition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/civicslearning.org\/es\/six-teams-advance-to-we-the-people-state-competition\/","title":{"rendered":"Six Teams Advance to We the People State Competition"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The 2020 Oregon High School <a href=\"http:\/\/civicslearning.org\/student-programs\/we-the-people\/wtp-competitions\/\">We the People Constitution Team<\/a> Regional hearings tournament took place Saturday, January 11 at Lake Oswego High School.<\/p>\n<p>Eleven teams from ten Oregon high schools participated in the event, demonstrating their knowledge and understanding of the U.S. Constitution.<\/p>\n<p>The six top-scoring teams will move on to the State tournament on Saturday, January 25 at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/place\/HATFIELD+COURTHOUSE\/@45.5159087,-122.6786251,17z\/data=!3m1!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0x54950a0fbff0c9d1:0x3034b7140d00c3ae!8m2!3d45.5159087!4d-122.6764364\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Hatfield Federal Courthouse<\/a> in downtown Portland. Those teams are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Central Catholic High School<\/li>\n<li>Cleveland High School<\/li>\n<li>Franklin High School<\/li>\n<li>Grant High School<\/li>\n<li>Lake Oswego High School<\/li>\n<li>Lincoln High School<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Doors open for observers and guests at 9:30.<\/p>\n<p>Founded and designed by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.civiced.org\/programs\/wtp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Center for Civic Education<\/a>, <em>We the People: The Citizen and the Constitution <\/em>\u00a0is an active learning curriculum designed to foster deeper understanding of the U.S. Constitution, Bill of Rights, and the institutions of government.
