Six Teams Advance to We the People State Competition

The 2020 Oregon High School We the People Constitution Team Regional hearings tournament took place Saturday, January 11 at Lake Oswego High School.

Eleven teams from ten Oregon high schools participated in the event, demonstrating their knowledge and understanding of the U.S. Constitution.

The six top-scoring teams will move on to the State tournament on Saturday, January 25 at the Hatfield Federal Courthouse in downtown Portland. Those teams are:

  • Central Catholic High School
  • Cleveland High School
  • Franklin High School
  • Grant High School
  • Lake Oswego High School
  • Lincoln High School

Doors open for observers and guests at 9:30.

Founded and designed by The Center for Civic Education, We the People: The Citizen and the Constitution  is an active learning curriculum designed to foster deeper understanding of the U.S. Constitution, Bill of Rights, and the institutions of government. The culminating activity is a simulated congressional hearing in which students testify before a panel, answering questions that demonstrate their knowledge and confidence.
